Pastor John Wachsmann has been the Senior Pastor here at Church On The Rock since 1995. He and his wife, Debra, have four children. John grew up in Waco and is a graduate from Baylor University. John has a heart for pastoring God's people that flows from the Father's heart.
'We believe that all that we are begins and ends with Jesus Christ himself. When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment in Matthew 22:37, he responded that it was simply to 'love the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength.' We believe that all that we are as a church begins with worshipping our God. As we worship Him, and as we learn to live as 'lovers' of our Lord, in all aspects of our life, His will becomes more clear to us. As a result, you will find powerfully intimate times of worship in our services that will leave you wanting more of Him! With an upbeat, contemporary style of music, COTR services are dynamic and filled with a sense of awe for our God!
That is just the beginning, though. As we learn to love God, not just on Sundays,but everyday, we will begin to see opportunities to show that same love to others. If you again go back to Matthew 22, you will find the '2nd greatest commandment' was to love people. We know that we have been called to show people God's love. We realize we are not nearly as good as God is at loving, but as we grow in Him, His love grows in us. So, I believe you will find some of the most loving, friendly people here at COTR. We would treasure an opportunity to make you a part of our family.
One of the primary areas we feel we our ministry should flow is to the young. Beginning with the children, we have exciting ministry as 'Kidz on the Rock' meet every Wednesday at 7pm, and Sundays at 10am. Likewise, our Youth Group for Junior High and High School, is growing with an anticipation as young people grow in their understanding for God. One of the newest and most exciting areas of our church is our College Ministry. While our college group is quite new, it has already impacted many.
Finally, we feel we have a call 'to the world.' There are many who still need to find a message of hope for their hopeless world. Whether it's in the streets of Waco, or to the 'ends of the earth', we will go and serve our Lord. We are aggressive in reaching our world for Jesus Christ!
We know that God is doing some awesome things throughout our city. We know that we are only a part of it. We believe in the ministry of the many local churches of our city.
